I know it is not on the lectionary schedule, and I know that John Boyd preached on this text just a few weeks ago at Port Williams United Baptist Church, but when your favorite story comes up, and it won’t be around for another 3 years you just can’t let it go!
It is a familiar story. One that we all know, even if we aren’t “church people.” But can we hear anything new in the story of the Good Samaritan? On the morning after 2 more mass shootings in the US? Can we show some compassion?
