Living into A New Normal

This afternoon NASCAR is back at Darlington! From the drivers point of view it will be the same—going fast and making lefthand turns. But it will be very different, in that there won’t be any fans. The stands will be empty.

The same thing was played out yesterday in a soccer match (or a football match depending on where you are reading) in Germany. There are reports that maybe MLB will be back without fans next month.

Will that become normal?

We are asking that about church too! When will we ever get back to normal? Will we ever, or will ‘normal’ be different? And what does that do to our theology, our faith? Where is God when normal isn’t normal?

Our Sermon Talkback time didn’t happen today because Zoom went down (another one of those new normal statements) so I didn’t get to hear the thoughts of our congregation. I really would love to hear what you think. Leave a comment below, or drop me an email. How are we going to live into this new normal?
