if you were given a test, asked to name the 12 disciples, how many could you name?
How about the 10 Commandments? (Don’t have to be in order.)
How about the Beatitudes? (Matthew or Luke are acceptable.)
The truth is that most of us can’t recite very much scripture, other than “Jesus wept.”
But the 23rd Psalm? That one we know! Even though few of us have ever seen a shepherd, or perhaps even a sheep other than on TV, we know this psalm.
Why? What is it that continually draws us to this psalm?
