During Lent we are invited “in the name of the Church to the observance of a holy Lent, by self examination and repentance, by prayer, fasting, and self denial, and by reading and meditation upon God’s holy Word.”
What a strange thing to do in our world!

But then so many of our rituals are strange, especially if we don’t understand the story, the why behind them.
This morning we hear a very strange story from the life of Abraham, a life filled with strange events. but this one stands out. If we understand the story we can understand this ritual
What are our rituals? What do they mean?
Maybe Lent can be a time for us to ask the question and understand the why behind what we do.
